On November 10, 2020, teachers showed a power point in class which focused on the poem Flanders Fields and had a veteran speak about peace. Following the classroom presentation, Administration hosted individual team assemblies. The smaller groups led to a very powerful experience for our students. They entered a dimly lit gym to look at a photo gallery display. There were three panels of pictures. The first was a diverse collection of soldier photos, the second panel was focused on Indigenous Soldiers and the third panel focused on women in service.
The last post, a moment of silence as well as a poem were next on the program. This was followed by class reps presenting a thank you card of gratitude messages for our local Legion members. The assembly closed with students filing by a display of artifacts from the war which the Armstrong Museum lent us. The Legion members joined us on our last assembly!
