In Honor…..

On Monday, to pay our respects to the survivors of the Residential School system and honour those that did not, we lowered our flags to fly at half mast. As well many staff and students, wore orange on Monday, to extend sympathy to the survivors, families, Indigenous Nations and all those affected by this tragedy. Even though others did not wear orange, we know that we are all remembering.

We also placed 215 orange ribbons on the fence between our school and PVSS. Each ribbon represents a life that was lost and serves as a reminder that in the future we will always remember that every child matters. As well, we hung a banner that staff and students signed. The banner recognizes that we will not forget. At 2:15 on Monday, we had a moment of silence. We are encouraging our staff and students to stop and reflect when they see the ribbons and the lowered flags. We can not ignore the past, but as a school we are focusing on the path forward to a better future.
