Class Reconfiguration

Updated: 5:07 PM, Sunday, September 24

Parents will be aware that we are having to restructure to create room in our classes. We have worked hard on this over the past few days and will be ready to welcome students into their new classes on Monday morning, September 25th.

Parents will receive an email around 5pm on Sunday, similar in format to the email you received in early September when we shared your child’s class with you. That email will tell you your child’ homeroom teacher and team for the year. If you have more than one child in the school, hopefully it will be obvious to you which child is in which class. But in the event that it is unclear, please email the school and we will clarify for you.

Divisions 1, 3, 4, & 5 remain straight grade 6 classes. Division 2 will become a blended 6/7. Divisions 6, 7, 8, 9, 12 & 13 will remain blended 6/7 classes. Divisions 10 & 11 are now straight grade 8 classes. The biggest disruptions are to divisions 2, 10 & 11. But all classes have some movement both in and out.

Some students will be happy, while others likely sad to have to change. We get that! Change can seem scary. But this is a school community filled with very caring individuals who will take good care of your child no matter which class they are placed in. We encourage you to prep your child to face this with courage and the determination to “make the best of things” – to believe the best about others, and to see the year with the hope and optimism it truly does contain. Within a few short days, the vast majority of students will feel settled again and back on track with their community-building in their teams! We hope to have support available on Monday in case some are needing to talk. This staff is so good at wrapping around students who may be needing a bit of extra TLC.

Thank you so much for your support and patience while we make this adjustment to ensure that we balance our classes the best possible way for your children.
