EMAIL TO PARENTS SEPTEMBER 9th, 2020

Posted on 2020-09-09 07:00:00 +0000 UTC

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Welcome (back) to Len Wood Middle School for the 2020-2021 school year!  We are thrilled to have your child join us in person this school year!  We have been working very hard to prepare a safe and welcoming “home-away-from-home” for our students as they return to a different – but very workable – school year that is full of promise and hope!

Please note:  To observe social distancing, we will NOT be posting physical copies of class lists at school.

If you are arriving by car, please drop off and pick up in the parking lot across the road from the school.  We are not using our traffic circle for drop offs at this time (unless you have a disabled parking decal).

This email is to inform you that your child has been placed in the TEAM NAME

Text Box

Each team has a designated entrance to use when coming to school, a designated bathroom for their team, and a hallway set aside for limited cohorts as well.  For tomorrow and Friday, to minimize cross-cohort contact, simply find a convenient spot to drop off your child/children, and a team of staff members will direct your child from there.

We invite you to watch this short walk-through video showing your team’s designated areas:

Also, if you have not yet watched the Introduction and General Info videos, you can find those at the top of this playlist: http://bit.ly/LWMSplaylist

Please arrive at school close to 8:04 AM tomorrow: Thursday, September 10.

It will likely speed up your turnaround if you choose to drop off your passenger(s) a short way from the school and have them walk the remainder of the trip. This will minimize the number of cars we have in the parking lots opposite the bus lanes (by PVSS). Please be patient and considerate of others during drop off.

Students should find a teacher on the edge of the property and wait to be escorted to their designated team area.  As of Monday, students will head directly to their team’s designated entrance and wait there for school to start – socially distanced from other groups.  This is where they will meet their teacher and classmates for the year!

We have worked very hard to ensure a safe and caring environment with careful segregation of cohorts (teams).  We are looking forward to the excellent learning opportunities that students will explore in our building this year!

If you have any questions about start-up, please review thoroughly the information on our website that goes over  health and safety protocols  as well as the video playlist.  We will be happy to address any further questions that you may still have by phone once you have reviewed these resources!

We look forward to caring for your child throughout this school year!

Best regards,

Denise Moore, Principal

Duncan Hazlewood, Vice-Principal
